President Ken Mansell accepts the trophy for the NSW community of the year award  for the Australian Inland Botanic Gardens Community.

Your Botanic Gardens!

The Australian Inland Botanic Gardens has swept the pool winning two awards in the last two months! Firstly the prestigious NSW Community of the Year award. Which included a beautiful glass trophy and $5,000.00 from the Commonwealth Bank.

The field of finalists was very strong, with some communities doing amazing things, but the AIBG with its friends, venues, volunteers and tourism was judges the best for the year.

Then, on Australia Day we were awarded the Wentworth Shire Council’s Community of the Year.

Presented by the Mayor Margaret Thomson and Andrew Heslop, ambassador for Australia Day.

Congratulations to all the Botanic Gardens family who deserve these awards for all their hard work.

The AIBG welcomes new director Dr Stephen Sykes (above) to lead us into the new year. Steve is a past CSIRO scientist and manager who brings a wealth of knowledge to the Botanic Gardens. We are all excited to be working with Steve in 2012.
